Pianist Matei Varga will be the featured performer at a special recital to dedicate the new Steinway B piano at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Mr. Varga will be performing works by Mozart, Bach, Schubert, Lipatti and Chopin. The recital also will include two original compositions by FAPC choir member Beatriz de Mello, performed by mezzo-soprano Lara Stevens Ryan. The Steinway piano, which debuted during Palm Sunday services this year, is a gift of the William S. Perper Estate. Mr. Perper was a longtime member of the congregation and a devotee of church music. Members of the Perper family will be attending. There is no admission charge. The recital is sponsored by the Arts and Our Faith Committee.
