Duruflé & Martin: The Lenten Concert
The FAPC Chamber Choir and Orchestra, directed by Ryan Jackson with Patrick Kreeger, organ
In their fifth Lenten concert under Ryan Jackson’s direction, the FAPC Chamber Choir sings Maurice Duruflé’s sublime Requiem alongside another masterpiece of the early 20th century, the ravishing a capella Mass for double choir by the Swiss composer Frank Martin. Martin’s Mass weaves the simple beauty of its Renaissance models with the infectious rhythms, colorful harmonies and folk melodies of its own time. A chamber orchestra joins the choir for Duruflé's Requiem.
