Installation of Werner Ramirez
This afternoon Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church installs the Rev. Werner Rodrigo Ramirez as our Associate Pastor for Youth, Young Adults and Community Groups. Everyone is invited to this historic celebration!
Members of Werner's family—his fiancee, April, his parents, Armando and Sandra Ramirez, and sister, Marta Ramirez—will be among our special guests.
The service will include members of the Fifth Avenue clergy and congregation, as well as representatives of the Presbytery of New York City. Among the participants will be two fellow youth ministers, the Rev. Ashley DeTar Birt of Rutgers Presbyterian Church in Manhattan and the Rev. Chris de la Cruz of First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens; and members of the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee, which recommended Werner to the congregation, including Nancy Moore, chair; Jes Levine, Jama Toung and Jeffrey Yao.
The guest preacher for the installation will be Pastor Jessica Winderweedle, pastor of Kingston United Methodist Church in Kingston, New Jersey. The Kingston church is home to The Feed Truck, the ministry to young adults in Central New Jersey that Werner helped to lead while he was studying for his master of divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary. During an unexpected pastoral transition, Werner and Jessica briefly served as co-pastors of the Kingston church before she was called to the position full-time.
"Jess has been by far the best working relationship I’ve had with anyone ever," Werner says. "She still calls me her work husband! She will be officiating our wedding when April and I get married this summer."
Werner will become the 15th associate pastor to serve at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church since the first associate was installed in 1907.
