At Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, we welcome newcomers with open arms and invite each to find a place to call home within the warm embrace of our church family.
New members are received upon completion of the "What We Believe" class. "What We Believe" is designed for those interested in exploring the nature of Christian faith and potential membership in Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. The class includes a review of core Christian doctrine, key tenets of Reformed faith, an overview of worship and the sacraments, an examination of the meaning of faith and membership, and an in-depth look at the history, mission and ministries of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. New member classes are taught by Associate Pastor Randy Weber, with all FAPC clergy participating.
"What We Believe" is offered four times per year. The initial session is taught on a Sunday afternoon, with an alternate session sometimes available for those unable to attend on Sunday. On Thursday evening is a reception at the Senior Pastor's home, and new members are welcomed into the congregation the following Sunday. This is a festive day that includes a new members breakfast, a meeting with the Session and special recognition during the 11 am worship service. Please see the church calendar or Adult Education section for a list of upcoming classes.
