The Session
Elders are called to exercise leadership, government and discipline for the life of the church. With primary responsibility for nurturing and overseeing the spiritual and theological life of the congregation, each Elder works on at least committee with a specialty in outreach, worship, congregational life, education, or stewardship to ensure that resources of time, talent and money are appropriately utilized.
Board of Deacons
"The ministry of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress." (Book of Order, Presbyterian Church, U.S.A, G-2.0201)
Deacons:
- Participate in worship and offering one-on-one prayer after the services
- Provide transportation for members who need assistance to and from worship services
- Offer pastoral care (including visits, correspondence and delivering flowers) to homebound and hospitalized members
- Support the church's outreach ministries
- Grant financial assistance from the church to members in need
Deacon service projects include:
- Deacons Hunger Drive (October) collects non-perishable food for local shelters and food pantries
- Christmas Angel Tree Project (November) provides Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents
- Clothing Drive (March)
- Operation Campfire (May) raises funds to send inner-city children to summer camp
Board of Trustees
Trustees are called to assume the responsibility for the financial and business affairs of the church and report to the Session. Their responsibilities include oversight of property administration, legal and insurance, as well as management of our endowments and future funds. The Trustees have joint responsibilities with the Session for the budget and personnel of the church.
