At Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, we praise God communally on Sunday mornings and in individual acts of service throughout the week, praying that all we say and do will give glory to God. Sunday morning worship takes place in our sanctuary which was designed with no right angles in order to convey God’s welcoming embrace. We gather with members, friends and visitors from around the world and after the Organ Prelude, we greet each other with the Passing of the Peace. We believe all Christians are Ministers of the Faith, and thus our lay leaders participate actively in worship, leading the congregation in the Call to Worship, Moment for Mission, and Offertory Prayer, serving as greeters, ushers and communion servers, and singing in our largely volunteer choir. Our pastors lead the congregation in prayer, sacraments and the preaching of the Word. In the leadership of public worship, pastors intentionally use inclusive language.
