A Joyous Day - Our 2023 Homecoming Celebration

On Sunday, September 17, 2023, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church was excited to host our annual Homecoming Celebration! This joyous day marked the start of our program year and the resumption of Sunday worship service at 11:00 am (summer worship occurs at 10:00 am until Homecoming). Our clergy, staff, and congregation were on hand to ring in the fall season and launch our exciting new sermon series, Detectives of Divinity.

This Homecoming kicked off with a family breakfast in our LaDane Williamson Christian Education Center, followed by a packed worship service with our glorious full choir at 11:00 am. This service marked the world premiere of composer Philip Stopford’s “Fifth Avenue Te Deum”, composed in honor of our very own Dr. Ryan Jackson, the William S. Perper Director of Music & Fine Arts Ministries, and his ten years of service to the church.

After worship the congregation gathered in Bonnell Hall for a church-wide celebration featuring a photo booth, a book raffle, delicious food, fun activities, and fellowship. Events occurred both on our Fifth Avenue campus and throughout our online campus, with a well-attended hybrid coffee hour for our online family.

Old friends were reunited after the summer break and new friends came together, all joined by our shared spirit of welcome and love.

Enjoy these snapshots from the happy day!
