This summer is all about giving back—how we do it, and why we do it.
Serving others is written into the mission of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. It is one of the many ways we "live out the good news of Jesus Christ."
During the quiet of summer, when most other church programs go on hiatus, most of our volunteer programs continue at full throttle. This summer, we will showcase the diverse volunteer opportunities available at this church. We'll explore the many ways we serve, the places and people we serve, and most important, why we serve. How does volunteering enrich and express our Christian faith?
Our purpose is two-fold: to celebrate the individuals who give of their time and talents to advance the Fifth Avenue mission, and to encourage more volunteers to get involved—not just over the summer, but also when the church calendar revs up again this fall.
Following the success of last year's successful campaign, 100 Things I Love about FAPC, #WhyWeServe will appear throughout the summer exclusively on our Instagram feed (@fapc_nyc). The campaign kicks off on Memorial Day (May 28) and continues through Homecoming (Sept. 9).
Here's how you can get involved:
- Send us photos of your volunteer work at Fifth Avenue, everything from our longstanding community ministries (Meals on Heels, The Bowery Mission, the Shelter) to your in-church activities (the Archives, Ushers & Greeters, Tours, FAPC Community Choir) to those programs that fly a bit under the radar (Cooking with Shelter Guests, Speaking English). We'll share as many as we can!
- Tell us about the people and programs that deserve particular recognition. Drop us a line at [email protected].
- Follow us on Instagram (@fapc_nyc), and post to your own accounts, using the hashtag #WhyWeServe. (Be sure to tag the church when you post!)
Wishing you a rewarding summer!
