Project
Find was founded in 1969 to care for the elderly whose lives were disrupted
by the development of the Port Authority Terminal. It offered a safe haven
in Hell's Kitchen five days a week. Westside churches were called upon
to fill in the weekend gaps.
Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church volunteers serve dinner one Sunday a
month to some 150 seniors at the Project Find Coffee House in the Clinton
area near the bus terminal. In addition to monthly ministering at the
Project Find Coffee House, volunteers organize caregivers from the Church
for the organization's Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors of the West Side,
complete with music and dancing.
The need continues, and members of our church have risen to the occasion
to help meet the needs of a changing city, following Christ's example.
Like-minded, patient, flexible volunteers are always needed. Volunteers
meet on the second Sunday of each month after the 9:30 am worship service.
There are no dues or fees.
