We, the FAPC Committee on Homelessness, will serve Christ, whom we see in each person, by befriending the homeless, connecting them to needed resources, and working with others who seek to end homelessness.
-- The Mission Statement of the Committee on Homelessness
Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church sits at the intersection of wealth and poverty, where some sleep in luxury only yards away from others who rest their heads on cardboard and concrete.
FAPC seeks to share God’s love and compassion with all of God’s creation. The Committee on Homelessness focuses on alleviating homelessness, a condition contrary to God’s desire for God’s children.
There are many ways to get involved. Bring your own gifts and interests, and we will gladly invest your talents toward bringing hope to those who desperately need it.
Some of our ministries include:
- The David B. Skinner Shelter, providing secure accommodations and fellowship to 12 guests, 365 nights a year. Contact: Joe Vedella ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )
- Advocacy at the local, state and national levels. As part of a coalition of faith-based organizations, we advocate for the creation of affordable housing and for advancing public policy on housing and homelessness.
