The Place of Forgiveness in Peace and Reconciliation

This fall Adult Education is taking the fall sermon series—Curate Your Heart—to heart! Our classes center on several of the themes our preachers will be exploring from the pulpit—love of God, love of neighbor, forgiveness and reconciliation, mercy and justice. As we curate our hearts, we will discipline our minds as well.

Today we explore the challenge of forgiveness. Can victims and survivors of conflict truly forgive? How can perpetrators of violence embrace forgiveness? Is forgiveness a necessary part of reconciliation?

Academic activist Jonathan Golden addresses these questions through a discussion of his research and fieldwork in global peacebuilding. Dr. Golden is the director of the Center on Religion, Culture and Conflict at Drew University and the convener of the Conflict Resolution and Leadership program.
