COVID-19: How We’ll Keep in Touch

Communication has never been more important.

The pastors, senior staff and I have devoted a lot of time thinking about how best to use video, the website, email and other online tools to do ministry, provide pastoral care and strengthen community during these times. I want to outline the basics of our communications program for you here.

EMAIL

Beginning next week, you will receive three emails from us:

The Tuesday email will provide brief updates from the church, announcements of new online programs and links to new content on the website.

The Friday email will continue to provide a pastoral message from the senior pastor or another member of the clergy.

The Sunday email will include a link to the worship video and other content you used to find in the bulletin – the church prayer list, news of the faithful departed – as well as a new feature, Joys and Concerns. If you have something joyful to share with the congregation, or a concern on your heart, send it to Lance Hurst at [email protected]. (Please include your name.)

If you receive e-newsletters from 20s+30s, Family Ministries or Outreach Ministries, these will continue. The daily Lenten devotionals also will continue through April 11. We plan to provide daily spiritual messages after Easter as well.

To subscribe to (or unsubscribe from) any of these emails, click here.

FAPC.ORG

We have created a page – fapc.org/covid-19 – where you can see the status of worship, building access, ministries and programs. This page will be updated at least once daily. If you have a question about what’s going on these days, drop us a line at [email protected].

The worship video will be available all day Sunday at fapc.org/this-Sunday. Then it moves over to the Sermon archive at fapc.org/sermons.

We are starting something new as well. We are sharing first-person accounts from our members about what life is like for you right now. We have received two “Stories of These Times” so far. (Follow the growing collection here.) If you have a story to share, please send it to me, and include a photo if you can.

SOCIAL MEDIA

We will be increasing our activity on Facebook and Instagram. If you are not following us on these apps, start now! Here’s our Facebook page. You will find us on Instagram @fapc_nyc.

GETTING HELP

If you need assistance from a pastor, please reach out anytime. Send an email to Lance Hurst at [email protected]. Or phone the pastor on call at 212.247.0490 ext 3999.

Things will likely evolve as we live into this new environment. Please send me your suggestions for our communications effort, and let us know what you need.

May Christ’s peace be with you all.
