Street Outreach to LGBTQ Youth

The Ecumenical Outreach Partnership announces a new monthly ministry in collaboration with Parity, a faith-based, LGBTQ advocacy organization (and Fifth Avenue mission partner). The program involves packaging supply kits of soap, healthy snacks, socks and other essentials, and distributing them to queer youth living on the streets.

The next outreach date is Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 6:30 until 8:30 pm. Volunteers are invited to participate in the Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, starting at 4:30 pm in Bonnell Hall. You may also join up with the Parity team at 6:30 for a brief training before heading out to the Piers, Christopher Street and other neighborhoods where the youth often gather.

Donations for the supply kits are also welcome! We need:
High-quality hand lotion
Pouches of dried fruit and nuts
Chocolate bars
New socks (unisex)
A small, new journal or notebook and a Sharpie
Travel-size body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, lip balm
Tampons
Hand wipes and hand warmers
Handwritten notes with a supportive message
Reusable drawstring bags
