Fifth Avenue Wall of Lament

God help us. These were the words of a May 25, 2022 prayer by Senior Pastor Scott Black Johnston that were sent to the community of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Since the writing of this prayer, there have been more deadly mass shootings.

We hope you will join us in thoughts, prayers and action to ask for responsible gun control. Here is how you can become involved in Fifth Avenue’s Wall of Lament.

  • Experience
Visit the Wall of Lament art installation in the Chesnut Gallery of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.
  • Pray
Let the prayers and words from Fifth Avenue clergy inspire your own prayers.
God Help Us by Rev. Dr. Scott Black Johnston
A Wall of Lament by Rev. Sarah A. Speed.
  • Act
We invite members and friends of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and our surrounding community to join us to safeguard our neighborhoods and communities by recommending policy changes to policy makers, civic leaders and other influential individuals. Download each letter and add your signature to Bass Pro Shops and Camping World, Inc. that requests the ban of sales of semi-automatic guns and high-capacity magazines in their retail stores.

This is part of our on-going commitment as a community of faith to act on the resolutions and policies of Presbyterian Church (USA) on gun violence tasking congregations to be involved in education and advocacy at the federal, state, and community level to prevent gun violence.
